NAMI Ohio Non-Discrimination Policy
NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental health. NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, supports and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raising awareness and building a community of hope for all of those in need. NAMI offers support and education programs for families and individuals living with mental health conditions. NAMI recognizes that the key concepts of recovery, resiliency and support are essential to improving the wellness and quality of life of all persons affected by mental illness.
NAMI Ohio adheres to and carries out its mission based on the belief that mental illness is a non-discriminatory illness that effects everyone inclusive of all races, socio-economic classes, ages, cultures, ethnicities and genders. We embrace a non-discrimination policy that states, “..shall not discriminate against any person or group of persons on the basis of race, ethnicity, culture, language, national origin, age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, gender expression, education, religion, faith, socio-economic status or lived experience.”
NAMI Ohio takes our non-discrimination policy very seriously and works for diversity and inclusiveness in all we do.
NAMI Ohio denounces any remarks made via messages on our Facebook page that are in conflict with our firm stance on non-discrimination and inclusiveness. While respecting the individual freedom of speech provided to everyone through the United States Constitution Bill of Rights, we also respect the rights of all to be treated equally and fairly. NAMI Ohio does not welcome or condone such discriminatory language and opinions on our Facebook or other public forums. Such remarks will be deleted and users who proclaim discriminatory positions will be blocked.
